THE LARGEST ARTWORK IN THE WORLD
About the Artwork
One of Ingvar’s ambition to create The Largest Artwork in the World, are hopes to raise awareness among the public about the situation of many children around the globe and what UNICEF is doing to help them.
Ingvar’s attemp to create the Largest Artwork in the World started 7th February 2013. The Artwork attemp will last for 66 days, a day for each year UNICEF has been operating. When the project finishes, The Largest Artwork in the World will be painted on real large canvas. The outcome painting will then be set up for an auction in support of UNICEF.

The Artwork is a platform on Facebook, which performs like a brush to canvas. Everyone with an active Facebook user account can participate and leave their mark. Every user and every brush stroke matters. It is unknown how the Artwork will look like in the end.
When a user participates, a shaped brush stroke will appear on the canvas along with user’s icon, name and country. The direction of the brush stroke comes from last participant, e.g., if last one was located in London and new one is in N.Y. the brush stroke goes to left.

The Artwork has six specially made colors by Ingvar that will appear randomly in the brush strokes (green, yellow, purple, blue, red and white), and icons are black. Ingvar’s four shapes of brush strokes are determined by the different time zones from where the users participate. User’s brush stroke will always be a part of the Artwork.

About Artist – Ingvar B
Ingvar Bjorn was born in 1974, Reykjavik, Iceland. He has studied at art division of the Technical College of Hafnarfjordur and the Iceland Academy of the Arts.
Ingvar is a clear example of a modern artist and designer, with a great interest in everything from painting to designing and building a motorbike. How Ingvar has prepared and worked on The Largest Artwork in the World for such a long time, he has shown that he never gives up on a good idea and keeps building them from scratch.

Influenced from diverse designers and artists, there are only few that Ingvar defines truly. Ron Arad is in his mind the one who combines art and design perfectly, and Ólafur Elíasson is of a great influence with his different vision of art.
Ingvar’s brother and co-worker, Jon Orn, is a prize collecting designer. Jon Orn has influenced him in so many ways and Ingvar is sincerely grateful to have him around and work with him.

Combine Art and Social Media
Social media and art have one important thing in common:
No borders. Together we can create the largest artwork in history through the media without being concerned about border, by disputes, or political or cultural differences.
Therefore we can unite the whole world by combining art and social media.

UNICEF
It is a privilige and honor to support UNICEF (United Nations Children Fund) through this project.

www.facebook.com/unicef
UNICEF was founded in 1946 after World War II to provide food, medical service and healthcare for children who were victims of the horrible war. Today, UNICEF has a much wider role in helping children and mothers in developing countries.

UNICEF is the driving force that helps build a world where the rights of every child are realized. UNICEF advocate for measures to give children the best start in life, because proper care at the youngest age forms the strongest foundation for a person’s future.
Ingvar’s ambition is to do something to unite the world for the better. It has driven Ingvar to perform The Largest Artwork in the World. The ultimate objective of the project is to eliminate political and religious disputes and prove that art form has no borders.

Through the Artwork platform, Ingvar can unite people from all over the world, where everybody can join to create something larger than life and make history together. That is the beauty of Artwork, to invite people all over the world to make their mark, change the world in support of UNICEF.

Green Environment
The environment has become more and more important to Ingvar, therefore you could say that he is going green. That is the reason he wanted to use GreenQloud services to host the Artwork.

What is Truly Green? GreenQloud’s public compute cloud and data storage services are hosted at renewable energy-powered facilities. GreenQloud strongly advocate and evangelize the adoption of renewable energy power in IT, and commitment to GreenIT and sustainability.
“We see a great opportunity in utilizing Iceland’s abundant 100% renewable geothermal and hydro energy infrastructure, naturally cool climate and strategic location as a means to clean up IT and greatly reduce the industry’s carbon footprint.”
